News from Other Societies - Manasota Genealogical Society

The next Manasota Genealogical Society Meeting will be Tuesday, May 4th, 2010 from 9:30 am-12:00 noon at the Central Public Library. The meeting will feature a panel of experts in genealogical research addressing and answering questions from the audience. Following the panel discussion, the computer special interest group will feature a short presentation on Navigating the MGS Website.

The next meeting of the Manasota Genealogical Society will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 9:30 am-12:00 noon at the Central Public Library. Our guest speaker will be Thomas J. Kemp, M.L.S., Director of Genealogy Products at NewsBank.com. His talk is entitled: 21st Century Online Resources for Genealogists.

Following the guest speaker, our Computer Special Interest Group will meet and is open to all who are interested in learning what's new in genealogy on the Internet.

News from Other Societies - Manasota Genealogical Society

The Manasota Genealogical Society is sponsoring a seminar entitled, "The RootsMagic Genealogical Software" on Saturday, February 13th, 2010. Bruce Buzbee, the software developer and founder of RootsMagic will be the principal speaker. Also, we will have a number of other speakers discussing topics of genealogical interest. It will be a great day that should not missed!! A great mixer with very knowledgeable speakers/researchers. The seminar will begin with registration at 8 AM, start at 9 AM, and end at 3 PM. Lunch will be provided for all individuals that preregister. The seminar location will be the Bethel Baptist Church facilities (on 30th Ave West in Bradenton). The Manasota Genealogical Society will meet on May 5th at the Manatee Central Library, 1301 Barcarrota Blvd., West Bradenton, Florida, from 9:30 AM to noon. The speaker will be Anne Young whose program is titled "Photographs and Souvenirs."



The South Bay Genealogical Society will hold its meeting at noon on May 19th, 2009, at the SouthShore Library. Fran Carter Walker will present a program called "Searcing for Land and Deed Records.

The Manasota Genealogical Society will meet at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at the Manatee Central Library, 1301 Barcarrota Boulevard, in Bradonton. The Pasco County Genealogical Society has announced their programs for March and April 2009.
  • March 14 - Debra Sandstrom Fleming will present a program about the pre-1850 U.S. federal censuses and how to effectively use these early records.
  • April 11 - David Boyette of the Brandon Area Genealogical and Historical Society will be conducting a program entitled "Genetic Genealogy: Understanding Your DNA."
